Hoist type
Material handling winches for lifting loads or people are equipment used to lift, lower and move heavy objects. There are several types of winches, each designed for specific applications. Here is an overview of the main types of material handling winches:
1. Manual hoists
These winches are operated by hand, often via a crank or cable. They are used for relatively light loads and in situations where a power source is not available.
- Hand crank winch (or arm winch):
Used to lift or move light loads. This type of winch is often installed on work platforms or trailers. - Wire-rope winch:
Used for lifting light to medium loads (at Fixator, up to 400kg or 900 lbs), this winch is equipped with a wire rope. This type can be used for a variety of purposes, including lifting vehicles, awnings, etc.
2. Electric hoists
These are winches powered by an electric motor. They are used for heavier loads and allow faster and more efficient lifting than manual winches.
- Electric cable winch:
Used in construction sites, garages, and for industrial handling, this winch is powered by an electrical energy source (single-phase or three-phase). It is generally used to lift heavy loads, at Fixator up to 3000kg with a hoisting kit. These electric winches can be controlled remotely, which allows loads to be lifted safely, particularly for work on platforms or in hazardous environments.
3. Pneumatic hoists
Pneumatic winches are powered by compressed air, making them suitable for environments where the use of electricity can be dangerous (for example, in potentially explosive or short-circuit areas).
- Pneumatic cable winch:
Used for industrial applications where a compressed air source is available. These winches are lighter and more compact than electric winches, while still providing high lifting capacity.
