Anti-fall systems

Safety blocks or fall protection devices are mandatory for lifting people. Their use is governed by strict standards and regulations aimed at ensuring the safety of users working at height. Here are the specific reasons and obligations related to their use:

Legal and regulatory obligation:

European Directive 2006/42/EC (Machinery Directive):
- Personnel lifting equipment must be designed to avoid any risk of falling;
- Safety devices (fall arresters, locking systems, etc.) are mandatory to prevent accidents in the event of mechanical, electrical or human failure.
Standard EN 1808 (Motorized suspended platforms):
- This standard requires the installation of safety devices such as:
  - Fall arrest blocks triggered by tilt or slack cable.
  - Speed limitation and tilt control systems.
- These devices must be present for any lifting operation involving suspended platforms or motorized cradles.

Reasons for their obligation:

Failure protection:
- A lifting cable can break, slacken or suffer mechanical failures. Safety blocks then prevent the free fall of the platform or people.
Compliance with standards:
- For operations involving the lifting of people, equipment must meet standards such as IN 1808 and EN 341, which require the use of safety devices.
Prevention of serious accidents:
- Lifting people involves high risks, and safety blocks play a key role in protecting users in the event of a malfunction.
