Mechanical load limiter - FIXATOR

Mechanical load limiter

The load limiter for electric winches with passing cable Fixator is an integrated or additional safety device, designed to monitor and control the load exerted on an electric cable winch. It plays a crucial role in preventing overloads that could damage the equipment, cause the cable to break, or cause accidents during lifting or pulling operations.

Description :

  1. Cable winch passing:
    • Unlike conventional drum winches, a pass-through cable winch allows the cable to pass through the winch without tangling, which is typical of systems used for suspended platforms or gondolas.
    • Fixator winches are often used in work at height, facade maintenance, or other industrial applications.
  2. Role of the load limiter:
    • It detects if the force exerted on the cable exceeds a predefined threshold corresponding to the maximum capacity of the winch.
    • In case of overload, it automatically interrupts the power supply to the winch or triggers an alert system to prevent any malfunction or accident.

Technical characteristics:

  1. Detection methods:
    • Load cell:
      • Measures the force exerted on the cable in real time.
    • Mechanical sensor:
      • Detects excessive tension via calibrated springs or similar mechanisms.
    • Electromechanical sensor:
      • Combines mechanical and electrical elements to monitor and report overloads.
  2. Compatibility:
    • Designed to work with Fixator range of electric cable winches.
    • Can be integrated into the winch or added as an external device.
  3. Power and connectivity:
    • Operates from winch power supply.
    • Some models have connectors for connecting to a control unit or centralized control system.
  4. Materials:
    • Manufactured from tough, corrosion-resistant metal alloys for durability in harsh environments.

It is specifically designed to work with LM 300kg and 500kg electric construction site winches (110 volts, 220 volts or 400 volts).
