Temporary works
Temporary work at height refers to any professional activity carried out at a certain height above the ground, in a non-permanent or temporary setting. This generally includes interventions requiring specific equipment to ensure the safety of workers and reduce the risk of falls.
Examples of temporary work at height:
- Installation or maintenance on roofs, scaffolding, or metal structures;
- Cleaning facades or windows on tall buildings;
- Work on pylons, antennas or wind turbines;
- Construction or repair of infrastructure such as bridges or towers;
- Inspection or maintenance of tall structures such as tanks or industrial chimneys.
Common equipment for these jobs:
- Scaffolding: Temporary structures to allow workers to access high areas;
- Suspended platforms or nacelles: Elevating work platforms (cable suspended scaffolding) to reach specific heights;
- Cables: Used to suspend lifting equipment and allow it to move vertically or horizontally using a trolley;
- Electric, manual or pneumatic winches: In other words, hoists, or more generally, lifting equipment allowing the raising and lowering of lifting or handling equipment;
- Hanging or anchoring system: set of devices designed to secure workers during work on roofs. It serves as a fixing point for suspending flying platforms, saddles, or suspended platforms. These devices ensure the stability of lifting systems and guarantee the safety of workers;
- Safety blocks or anti-fall devices : associated with electric winches, these are complementary measures to harnesses and lifelines to ensure the protection of workers and prevent accidents in the event of failure or fall.
